G F Handel

Dettingen Anthem

There is an excellent performance of this Work (and the Dettingen Te Deum) by the Choir of Westminster Abbey, under Simon Preston, on YouTube here.

Here is a "clickable" Table of the available Midi Files for this Work (the Files have been transposed down a semitone from the printed Score in order to match the "Baroque" pitch of the above YouTube Recording). The Files were prepared as a Commission by Barts Choir, London, using a Vocal Score transcribed from Vol. 36 of the complete Handel edition, edited by F Chrysander, with a new keyboard reduction by Jonathan Startup.

According to my French correspondent JF Pastol an orchestral Score for this Work can be freely downloaded from Munchener Digitalsierungs Zentrum Digital Bilbliotek. If you know of a Website from which can freely and lawfully be downloaded a printable Vocal Score for this Work, even though it may not be exactly the same as the one used to make the Midi Files below, please let me know the address.

Dettingen Anthem
UNemphasized Soprano  Alto  Tenor  Bass
1: The King shall rejoice in thy strength, O Lord yes yes yes yes
2: His honour is great in thy salvation yes yes yes yes
3: Thou shalt give him everlasting felicity yes yes yes yes
4: And why? Because the King putteth his trust in the Lord yes yes yes yes
5: Alleluia. We will rejoice in thy salvation yes yes yes yes

That's the end of the Work.

And if something doesn't work properly, please let me know (see the "Comments" section of my Homepage).
